La rue des Femmes Turns 30!

Since 1994, La rue des Femmes has been supporting women experiencing homelessness rebuild their their lives. Our mission to is provide our women with care that not only meets of their needs, but also helps them reconnect with themselves and those around them to successfully create the life they want. We support over 1,500 women per year as they rebuild their relational health and reach their full potential.

Three decades after its founding, La rue des Femmes now has three houses (soon to be four!). We foster an open environment, with no closed custody, offering all the safety and security that the women need to heal. We acknowledge and validate all of their feelings and give them the space to be vulernable.

Our staff members go above and beyond in how they deliver care to foster a supportive, lively, and compassionate environment. With us, our participants eat healthy and plentifully, have their own room room with a key and private bathroom, and are accompanied 24/7 in their healing journey by support workers who are trained in relational health.

With over 30 years of experience, we are looking to the future with hope-hope for greater recognition of homelessness as a state of being, which requires all the appropriate care to overcome.

The year 2025 will set the course for the coming decades, with the opening of a relational care home and the publication of a model of La rue des Femmes’ relational health intervention approach.
