Awards and acknowledgements

Many awards have recognized Herstreet's approach and the dedication of it's founder Léonie Couture. We wish to share these awards with all those who help the organization.

Léonie Couture: Chevalière de l'Ordre National du Québec

On June the 7th 2012, in recognition of her exceptional  commitment towards homeless women and her dedication since the creation of Herstreet, the prime minister of Québec, Jean Charest, named Léonie Couture, Chevalière de l'Ordre National du Québec.

Prix annuel Desjardins 2011

Given by the Desjardins Foundation with a bursary of 5 000$, the Annual Desjardins Award gives credit to the excellency of the work and service to the community of Herstreet. (On the photo: Marc Danis, communications and financing, Léonie Couture executive director and founder).

Thérèse Daviau Award

Given by the Ville de Montréal and bearing the name of a feminist and one of the first women elected at City Hall, this award gives credit to the exceptional contribution of Léonie Couture to the social development of Montréal and to the improvement of the quality of life of Montrealers. This awards also designates her as personality of the year. Personality of the Year 2010

To underline a year of work, Léonie Couture was named "Personality of the year 2010" in the category "courage, humanism and personal accomplishment) by La Presse and Radio Canada. This award followed her award as "Personality of the week on July the 19th 2010".

Idola St-Jean Award 2010

In June 2010, the Fédération des Femmes du Québec awarded to Léonie Couture the Idola St-Jean Award 2010 to aknowledge the contribution of a woman or of a group of women to the improvement of the status of women in Québec.

Florence Award 2010

In April 2010, the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec presented to Suzanne Bourret, coordinator for counselling services at Herstreet, the Florence Award in the category "community involvement". This award recognizes nurses that have influenced their profession by their accomplishments and their emulation by their peers.

Persillier-Lachapelle Award 2009

Presented by the minister of health and social services of Québec, the Persillier-Lachapelle Award, in the category "community organization", recognizes the quality and innovative work, and the scope of the involvement of Léonie Couture towards homeless women.

Jean-Pierre Bélanger Award 2008

Presented in 2008 to Herstreet, this award recognizes accomplishments in health promotion and innovative initiatives.

Award of Femmes d'Affaires du Québec 2005

The Réseau des Femmes d'Affaires du Québec honored Léonie Couture for her accomplishments as a manager in the category "manager or professional employed in a non-profit".
